After a devastating knockout of Alistair Overeem, the promotional power seems to be warranted.

"If I'm going to win this fight, I have to fight for it, and that's what I'm excited about".

While Miocic's situation clearly isn't the UFC's promotional bread-and-butter, he at least has a worthy foil in Ngannou.

"This is what I signed up for". Good for him. Great knockout. His name is Francis Ngannou. Him starting in so fast. He's a big heavyweight.

The always large and strong man-child though had gigantic dreams even as he shoveled sand into trucks. What do I do when I have anything bad happen to me? He can do it to someone else, but it ain't gonna happen to me.

But there's light at the end of the tunnel.

"Blue-collar Rust Belt warrior with record-breaking hands of stone" is the kind of character that a talent agency like WME-IMG should be able to sell.

The two were involved in a verbal altercation this summer at an afterparty following UFC 214 in Anaheim, a week after Calvillo had publicly called-out Esparza after she beat Joanne Calderwood.

"Don't lie, Stipe [Miocic]".

"I ran into Cynthia this morning and I actually apologized to her", Esparza said. But I'm used to it. I'm pretty much the underdog in all my fights. Literally walking from gym to gym in the streets of Paris, the homeless youth eventually found a boxing gym that would train him and then was guided into MMA.

Hailing from the Cleveland area, Miocic is well aware of the area's WWE connection, as well.

Miocic was then asked if he's intimidated by Ngannou, which resulted in the first verbal confrontation between the two, as the Cameroonian didn't agree with his answer. I know he's just making proud here like, 'Yes, I'm the champ.

Daniel Cormier broke down his feelings about his UFC 214 loss to Jon Jones and how no failed drug-test can change what happened that night in his own mind.

Ngannou resisted at first but as he began collecting victories - and small checks - on the independent scene his dream began to transform.

In the full interview, Stipe Miocic (17-2) discusses his upcoming title defense against Francis N'Gannou (11-1) at UFC 220 on Jan. 20. As Volkan Oezdemir takes his shot at snatching the 205lb title.
