Cal was able to upset Texas, 50-43, in Week 3, despite a controversial call after Vic Enwere dropped the football one yard short of the goal line.

The Golden Bears' running back has enjoyed a solid college career in the Bay Area.

Texas had problems all over the backfield, from broken coverages to players getting physically beaten in matchups.

As head-scratching as this whole situation is, the fact of the matter is that it will go on the record as a loss for Texas. It was similar to the one we saw against Notre Dame in the opener, the difference being Texas got out of that one with a double-overtime win. I finally believe in the offense, but I can't put any faith in the defense until I see some consecutive quality performances.

All the impressive individual statistics compiled by both teams added up to even more staggering team numbers.

Enwere appeared to ice it when he ran 55 yards for a touchdown. There is tremendous room for growth for this team.

Cal (2-1) marched down the field to take the final lead of the night with 3:41 left to play.

First, here is the fumble, which clearly comes out before he goes into the end zone.

Cal hadn't beaten a top-11 team since knocking off Oregon on the road in 2007, but the Bears did their part in what should be called "Shakeup Saturday". Three quarterbacks on Texas' schedule have already thrown for 1,000 yards in 2016, and the Longhorns also have to face former Heisman Trophy contender Baker Mayfield of Oklahoma. "They did a great job scheming us up. I'll get more involved, and we'll get it fixed". Texas escaped its non-conference slate at 2-1, mainly on the backs of its newfound offensive success.

For now, the Cowboys are in pretty good shape with a young quarterback who knows how to manage a game while making a few plays in the process. The drive ended on Davis' 29-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Veasy.

Cal ran out the clock for the seven-point win. The 50 points Cal scored matched the most Strong's defense had allowed in his 28 games at Texas.

Texas coach Charlie Strong yells during the first quarter of an NCAA college football game against California Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, in Berkeley, Calif. Next up for Texas: a bye week, followed by a trip to Oklahoma State for a game on the first day of October.

Cal quarterback Davis Webb torched the Longhorns for eight pass plays of at least 23 yards. Three plays earlier, a fumble by Cal's Demetris Robertson was recovered by Texas safety Kevin Vaccaro in the end zone and returned 66 yards. After their win over UTEP, they rose to No. 16 in the Coaches Poll. Cal WR Chad Hansen entered Saturday's action leading the nation in receptions per game (14.0) and receiving yards per game (170.0).

"No need to point fingers right now", said Strong. The Bears entered the game allowing an FBS-worst 6.8 yards per carry and wasn't much better against the Longhorns, allowing 307 yards on 51 runs.
