The President has made a dangerous move — Iran nuclear deal

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who has long been critical of the deal as it lifted sanctions against Tehran, says he "fully supports" the "bold" withdrawal.

"It is clear to me we cannot prevent an Iranian nuclear bomb under the decaying and rotten structure of the current agreement". But the deal has time limits and does not address Iran's ballistic missile program or regional policies. "If we do nothing, we know exactly what will happen".

Noting that all are aware of the dangers of Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon, he said it could embolden an already dangerous regime, threaten friends with destruction, pose unacceptable dangers to America's own security and trigger an arms race in the world's most dangerous region. "And it's not in the hands of any single country to terminate it unilaterally".

"We would open the Pandora's box". Senior European diplomats are both aghast and anxious about somehow keeping some sort of deal with Iran together.

Former U.S. president Barack Obama warned Tuesday that the Trump administration's decision to exit the Iran nuclear deal is a "serious mistake".

"The deal ultimately legitimizes Iran as a threshold nuclear state", Menendez, who stepped down as the top Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee earlier this year amid corruption charges, said on MSNBC's "The Rundown".

The Reuters/Ipsos poll was conducted online in English throughout the United States.

"Well, my lawyer keeps them on my behalf, but I pay him back eventually", Stephen Colbert said while mimicking Donald Trump's voice.

In this photo released by an official website of the office of the Iranian Presidency, President Hassan Rouhani attends a meeting with officials and industrialists, at a petroleum conference in Tehran, Iran, May 8, 2018. "Plans are being made, relationships are building". We urge all sides to remain committed to its full implementation and to act in a spirit of responsibility'. "In fact, the deal allowed Iran to continue enriching uranium and over time reached the brink of a nuclear breakout".

Trump said this morning the 2015 deal, which included Germany, France and Britain, had failed and Iran had continued to build its nuclear weapons programme. Outcome will determine our response.

The announcement to end the deal, formally the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), came on Tuesday when the president announced that sanctions would be re-imposed in 90 days and criticized the deal as "defective at its core".

Citing intelligence about Iran's past nuclear activities that Israel unveiled last week, Mr. Trump claimed there is "definitive" proof Iran violated the deal, but he didn't elaborate on that assertion.

Once again and to our detriment, the President has shown that he will place domestic political considerations and his disdain for his predecessor above our national interest and global reputation.

Mogherini said that the lifting of nuclear related sanctions is an essential part of the agreement. Although some Republicans had expressed reservations about pulling out of the accord, criticism was muted after the announcement.

Even Trump's secretary of state and the UN agency that monitors nuclear compliance agree that Iran, so far, has lived up to its side of the deal.

The deal's other signatories, Russia and China, have urged the U.S. not to leave; their ties to Iran aren't likely to be hit heavily by U.S. sanctions.

Obama, however, was not so sure.

Speaking live on state television, Rouhani said he wished to discuss Trump's decision with the European, Russian, and Chinese parties to the 2015 deal.

Kevin McCarthy, the House majority leader, said Trump was staying true to what he promised as a candidate. The Dow Industrial Average and Nasdaq were little changed.
