  • Police on Monday had a street near the shooting scene blocked off

After leaving the US, Paddock's girlfriend, Marilou Danley, flies from Tokyo, Japan, to the Philippines.

The official wasn't authorized to publicly discuss the matter and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

From most accounts, he does not fit the profile of a mass killer.

Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center said an additional victim died Tuesday afternoon. "They had barely any furniture in the house and nothing in the yard, the shades were always down and it was like they were not even living there".

Those who knew Paddock say there was no sign he was capable of holing up in a room on the 32nd floor of a casino hotel, the Mandalay Bay, and opening fire with multiple guns on a country music festival, killing at least 59 people and wounding more than 520 in the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history. He then took his own life.

Also among the heroes of the deadly Las Vegas shooting is a U.S. Army veteran who served as a sniper in Iraq.

Amid sirens and volleys of gunfire, people yelled, "They're shooting right at us", while officers shouted, "Go that way!" He killed himself before police stormed his hotel room.

Public records point to an itinerant existence across the American West and Southeast: Florida, a few years in California, a few years in other parts of Nevada.

Lombardo added that some rifles had scopes, and ammunition and suitcases were also in the room.

Austin Interim Police Chief Brian Manley said there would be extra police presence at the event headlined by Jay Z and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but warned: "We live in a world now where you cannot protect against every single threat".

Paddock had scored some big wins over the previous few weeks, pocketing more than $10,000 on several occasions and boasting of one $250,000 jackpot. Paddock was not counted in the death toll.

Images posted by US media showed automatic weapons attached to tripods lying on the ground of the hotel room, with scores of bullet casings littering the floor around them.

"My heart aches for the victims and their families of this senseless act", Aldean wrote on Instagram, adding: "Time to come together and stop the hate!"

About 200 people gathered for a vigil in downtown Orlando Tuesday evening.

Police and hotel security ultimately scoured several floors of the hotel looking for the shooter and came upon Paddock's suite, Sheriff Lombardo said.

The massacre left 58 people dead and another 500 people with gunshot wounds or stampede injuries.

Police said Paddock arrived last Thursday at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino overlooking the Vegas Strip.

"I condemn in the strongest terms possible today's terror attack in Las Vegas, NV", Erdogan wrote.

President Donald Trump is planning to visit Las Vegas on Wednesday to meet with survivors and law enforcement officials. He never said he'd lost four million dollars or something.
