US shooter's girlfriend returns to US from Philippines: Manila

Eric Paddock, who spoke to reporters outside his Florida home on Tuesday, said his brother Stephen was a normal guy and he could not explain what would have caused him to go on the shooting rampage on Sunday night.

"I anticipate he was looking for anybody coming to take him into custody", Lombardo said.

- Five handguns, two shotguns and a "plethora" of ammunition were found in Paddock's Reno, Nevada, property, Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said.

Paddock reportedly used Danley's identification when he checked into the Mandalay Bay hotel.

Paddock also used surveillance cameras to monitor police approaches to his room at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino - including a camera he positioned in the peephole of the door.

During the Sunday night rampage, a hotel security guard who approached the room was shot through the door and wounded in the leg.

Debris, an exit sign and a room's "do not disturb" sign littered the floor outside the room on the 32nd floor of the hotel on the Vegas Strip.

The Philippine native, who is considered a "person of interest," was out of the country when Paddock carried out the deadliest mass shooting in the US history.

The 64-year-old is said to have been a retired accountant who had no previous criminal record, known affiliation with a terror group or history of mental illness.

Police had no prior knowledge of the gunman before the attack.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives released a statement announcing that it is "currently conducting an urgent trace on firearms recovered from the scene in Las Vegas".

According to the Brisbane Courier Mail, Danley is an Australian citizen. A Filipino official says he traveled at least twice to the Philippines, where his girlfriend was born, in in 2013 and 2014.

Aviation websites showed the Philippine Airlines flight that Mangrobang said Danley had taken landed in the United States on Wednesday morning Philippine time, but Tuesday evening in Los Angeles.

"She was sent away so that she will be not there to interfere with what he's planning", one of Danley's sisters told Australia's Channel 7 TV network.

The selection of a hotel room overlooking a music festival, days before the attack. Such a setup would have made it easier for Paddock to know when he was close to being confronted by law enforcement.

"We are making arrangements to contact her upon her return", he said.

Some investigators turned their focus Tuesday from the shooter's perch to the festival grounds where his victims fell.

CIA spokesman Jonathan Liu said "the Intelligence Community is aware of the claim of responsibility by a foreign terrorist organization".

But the White House said it would be "premature" to reopen the US debate on tighter gun controls in the wake of the shooting.
